The Council includes consumer, advocacy, business, and provider participation. It has independent staff support to assist in carrying out its mandate, and its members offer a broad range of knowledge and experience to support the council's work. Highlights of 2005 Include: Developed and implemented a new Needs Assessment with statewide focus forums and public hearings Revised language once used in the Fact Sheets and included the new language in the widely distributed VR booklet "What It Can Mean for You" Developed a PowerPoint Presentation to raise awareness in the business community for hiring people with disabilities Co-hosted two Chamber of Commerce gatherings, one in Addison County and the other in Rutland City Participated in the Northeast Kingdom Job Fair Contributed input to the VR strategic plan Continued work with the AHS Reorganization Completed revisions to the Policy Manual for VR counselors Participated in regional and national meetings of the Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation (CSAVR) including membership on the Employment Committee Participated in RSA Regional Training Seminars in Worcester, MA Worked on disability issues with the Vermont Coalition for Disability Rights (VCDR) Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Links
