I. Assistive Technology Tools to Help People Stay Organized at Work, Home or School
Organizing time and information can feel a bit like Mud Season – no firm foundation and
easy to slip on. Come learn about tools that will enable you to demonstrate effective
organizational skills at home and on the job. Some are light-tech – removable highlighter tape,
a watch that beeps reminders, laminated check-off lists. Others utilize off-the-shelf computer programs.
Learn how it doesn’t have to be expensive to work.
II. Overlay Maker and IntelliKeys Keyboard
Learn to use software overlays already published for popular software programs.
Also, learn how one button can be used to enter a complete word, sentence or website
address. Use Overlay Maker to create basic communication boards and games.
III. Text Reading Software
Experience what it’s like to have text read aloud using popular text reading software.
Examples of text in alternative formats will be explored. Bring your laptop to install a
30-day trial of Kurzweil 3000, or Texthelp Read & Write Gold or use one of our computers.
IV. Alternative Keyboards
Explore up to eight different stations with alternative keyboards in a hands-on experience.
Rotate through all of the stations in this three-hour workshop, learn and build introductory
skills with the Intellikeys Keyboard, try-out virtual keyboards, trackballs, one-handed keyboards
and a myriad of other alternative access formats.
